ISHRAE, others pledge to create awareness for healthy refrigeration

On the ocassion of World Refrigeration Day 2019, ISHRAE, along with the institute of refrigeration (UK) and national centre for cold chain development, raised the rising concerns on the required awareness among the people regarding the essentialities of refrigeration in the modern society. As a part of celebration, the team chose to spread a sensible campaign on maintaining the possible required temperature to their refrigeration processors, so as to maintain a clean and cool environment in the surrounding area. Apart from the said initiative, they are also working towards bringing in new initiatives that would further reduce the energy consumption, and increase the durability of any of the heating and air conditioning systems.

Especially, in a country like India, where 4 out of every 10 children are unable to meet their daily potential needs, whether it’s pertaining to their health, or their food habits, due to poor food security, the use of refrigeration, including preservation and distribution of perishable food items, life-saving drugs and vaccines – needs focussed attention. In order to bring about this change, ISHRAE along with the IoR – UK, NCCD and other stakeholders will highlight innovation, efficiency and standards for the refrigeration industry on world refrigeration day. A follow up exhibition cum conference called RefCold will be held in Hyderabad from 21st to 23rd November 2019.

A webinar was organised on 26th June with participation from ISHRAE, IoR, NCCD and CEPT. The discussion about refrigeration and its importance together with its technical aspects were addressed by a galaxy of speakers which includes C. Subramaniam (immediate past president of ISHRAE).
