International geothermal month to focus on geothermal energy

The International Ground Source Heat Pump Association (IGSHPA) and the Geothermal Exchange Organization formally declared April to be International Geothermal Month from this year, and are appealing to organizations to join the movement and engage to raise awareness.

According to IGSHPA, the goal is to make International Geothermal Month a recognised annual event on the global calendar. The objectives of Geothermal Month are cooperation, education, and establishing geothermal energy as a force in the shift to sustainable energy. The Geothermal Exchange Organisation and the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association (IGSHPA) formally proclaimed April to be National Geothermal Month. It is being observed as International Geothermal Month with more groups joining the campaign to increase awareness. Geothermal Rising is working with industry professionals dedicated to standardizing geothermal vocabulary to promote its Geothermal Declaration of Communication.

Geothermal Month is a chance to celebrate this tremendous renewable energy source. Enhancing public awareness and establishing a consistent message throughout the industry are the goals of this program.  By offering social media visuals and other tools to distribute during April, groups such as IGSHPA are urging advocates to spread the word.
