Emerson announces Copeland Discus III compressor line expansion

Emerson announced it is releasing an expansion to its Copeland Discus III compressor line, with new 4DA/4DE and 6DU/6DV/6DZ models. These will help meet customer requests in a multitude of spaces, including food retail and foodservice as well as scientific plants and laboratories. The new models are currently available for purchase and installation.

“We’re always working to enhance our products to stay in tune with market trends and our customers’ needs,” said Thomas Chrysler, product manager for semi-hermetic compressors, Emerson. “The Discus III expansion helps our customers stay competitive in their respective industries with increased capacity, expanded compressor staging options, better efficiency and a smaller footprint.”

The 4DA/4DE models are Copeland’s smallest capacity four-cylinder Discus compressors and are targeted toward food service and food retail applications such as condensing units, supermarket racks, environmental chambers and process chillers.

The 6DU/6DV/6DZ models are Copeland’s largest capacity six-cylinder Discus compressors and are intended for use in the foodservice and food retail space as well as scientific plants and laboratories. These models increase the six-cylinder capacity by more than 20 percent, offering users a significant capacity increase without increasing footprint.

With CoreSense™ technology, every Discus model is equipped with oil pressure, motor and discharge temperature protection as well as easily accessible fault information and LEDs for clear visual indication of faults. Operators can obtain enhanced diagnostics and protection via advanced current-sensing algorithms.

Copeland Discus semi-hermetic compressors have been integral in the refrigeration industry for decades, offering users the most energy-efficient products on the market for a wide variety of refrigeration needs.
