The green growth transformation is high on the agenda for India’s commitment to lead global action against climate change and support sustainable development. Danfoss being a market leader in providing energy efficiency solutions and leading application know-how, we can play a significant role in this transition, says Ravichandran Purushothaman, President Danfoss India.
Danfoss, a global engineering company, has launched its first-of-its-kind Decarbonization Centre for commercial buildings in Chennai, India. This unique Experience Center is located within the LEED Platinum-rated Danfoss Oragadam campus and aims to support customers in their decarbonisation journey. Unlike traditional product-focused training centres, this facility takes a user-centric approach to reduce a building’s carbon footprint.
Visitors, including industry representatives and customers, will gain a holistic view of how energy-efficient products work together to contribute to a building’s overall decarbonisation and reduce power bills. With a target audience of 250-300 visitors a year, the centre will showcase Danfoss Climate Solutions and Danfoss Power Electronics and Drives, offering live demonstrations of state-of-the-art products and how they work together on an IOT platform to optimise energy usage.
The centre aims to showcase the latest technologies worldwide and quantify their impact on a building’s overall carbon footprint and energy consumption. From oil-free to IOT and conventional IE2 to IE5 permanent magnet motors, the Decarbonization Center covers all aspects of technology and energy efficiency in a commercial building. It caters to the evolving market in India, including data centres, green buildings, airports, metros, and upgrades of existing buildings to net-zero status.
The centre will integrate Danfoss products and solutions aimed at decarbonisation to help customers make judicious choices that reduce their dependency on product literature. The centre will also be a place to share decarbonisation solutions and expertise with customers, partners, and government bodies, supporting India’s sustainable net-zero future. The Decarbonization Center is open to visitors from around the world.
Decarbonizing our operations
We apply a three-step approach to decarbonize our global operations.
• Reduce involves saving energy by installing energy-efficient solutions such as heat pumps where possible.
• Re-use entails recycling the energy we already have by using excess heat from buildings, processes, and data centers.
• Re-source involves turning the remaining energy green by phasing out fossil fuels and procuring renewable energy.
