Reducing post-harvest loss with cold chain infrastructure

post-harvest

Post-harvest loss accounts for a significant percentage of food wastage worldwide.

One of the key areas where we can make a difference is by establishing a reliable cold chain system. By maintaining a consistent temperature from farm to fork, we can extend the shelf life of perishable goods and reduce spoilage.

The power of refrigerated transport, storage, and distribution networks that keep our food fresh and safe is immense. These innovative solutions minimise post-harvest loss, increase farmers’ yields, and ensure quality and nutritional value are preserved, reaching consumers in their optimum state.

Khmer Cold Chain aims to support Cambodia’s small-scale farmers to large agribusinesses with cold storage facilities, temperature-controlled transportation, and efficient packaging methods, so we can transform the way food reaches our tables. They connect farmers, producers, and retailers through our cold chain facilities and services, promoting food safety, sustainability, and economic development.

The intent is to build a future where post-harvest loss becomes a thing of the past and fresh produce reaches every corner of the world, contributing to food security and minimising waste.

Khmer Cold Chain is an InfraCo Asia initiative developed in partnership with the Phnom Penh Autonomous Port, together with the support of Infunde Development and USAID.
