World complex site in Chennai to house manufacturing lines starting with insulation line

The  Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. M. K. Stalin, laid the foundation stone for Saint-Gobain’s new site in Oragadam, Chennai. This site, poised to become the Saint-Gobain World Complex is spread over 122 acres and is the first phase of the MoU signed with the Government of Tamil Nadu committing an investment of INR 3,400 crores.

The Saint-Gobain World Complex will feature manufacturing facilities across different Saint-Gobain businesses: Glasswool, Gypsum Plasterboards, Plasters, Acoustic Ceilings, Float Glass, Solar Glass, Adhesives, Sealants, Mortars and will create more than 1,100 direct and indirect employment opportunities.

Santhanam, CEO, Asia Pacific and India region and Chairman, Saint-Gobain India said, “India’s rapid urbanization opens significant opportunities for light and sustainable solutions in the housing, construction, and infrastructure sectors. The Saint-Gobain World Complex will focus on producing innovative solutions that blend sustainability with high performance. We are glad to partner with Tamil Nadu in setting up this one-of-a-kind Saint-Gobain World Complex. Our current commitment of INR 3,400 crores in Tamil Nadu will increase our total investment in the state to over INR 8,000 crores, representing more than 50% of our overall investment in India.”

The Saint-Gobain World Complex will progressively house multiple manufacturing lines starting with the Insulation line, followed by the Gypsum Plasterboards in the next 6 months, bringing two new businesses of Saint-Gobain to Tamil Nadu.
