BITZER sets new benchmarks in the operation of reciprocating compressors

Starting January 1, 2024, all orders placed for ECOLINE reciprocating compressors of the C3 series or newer ones will be equipped with the latest iteration of the IQ MODULE, specifically the CM-RC-02. This next-generation IQ MODULE is designed to streamline and enhance refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pump systems’ installation, operation, maintenance, and retrofitting processes.

The IQ MODULE CM-RC-02 assumes the functions – once covered by the compressor protection device. It also offers a new world for operating the installed compressor functions and new digital services.

IQ MODULE simplifies compressor installation and operation

Beyond overseeing essential operating parameters of the compressor, the IQ MODULE CM-RC-02 is capable of managing motor protection, oil heater operation, and monitoring discharge gas temperature and oil supply. Direct connection of the high-pressure switch to the compressor module is facilitated, and the activation of the compressor is straightforward, requiring only the switch signal from the superior system controller.

During the transition period, compressors can also be ordered with the software set to simulate the SE-B3 functions; in this case, the compressor can be installed in the switch cabinet or even replaced without any modifications.

IQ MODULE simplifies the integration of compressor accessories and optimises operation

The IQ MODULE streamlines the incorporation of compressor accessories and enhances operational efficiency. Optional services for BITZER reciprocating compressors, such as capacity control, oil level monitoring and control, and liquid injection, can be electrically linked to the IQ MODULE. This simplifies switch cabinet wiring and reduces the required control outputs.

The IQ MODULE CM-RC-02 offers three optional extension boards with varying features. Components chosen with the compressor can be pre-ordered, wired, configured, and tested by the BITZER factory, easing system installation and significantly reducing production, troubleshooting, and commissioning time. Post-delivery extension boards can be added to compressors featuring the IQ MODULE CM-RC-02. The logic for peripheral device operation is individually optimised to enhance energy efficiency and increase compressor availability. Adjustment or retrofitting of the system, like adding capacity control steps, can be easily done without modifying the switch cabinet by arranging the wiring with the IQ MODULE.

The BEST SOFTWARE and the BEST app allow the configuration of the compressor and its accessories, displaying real-time and historical data with optimised data visualisation for prompt support to on-site service technicians.
