Let’s talk

Air washers with pre-filters capture dust and allergens up to 20 microns

Air washers

Regarding clean air as a priority, Sandeep Jaisinghani, Managing Director, JCB Air Tech, states that evaporative air coolers using pre-filters for dust particles and UV light are used to remove the allergen.

Many advancements in air handling technologies have been going on over the years. Elaborating further on air handling techniques for cooling in large spaces, Sandeep says, as the size of commercial and industrial space increases, the size of the units to be also installed increases, but it involves higher Capex & Opex. Air conditioners, centralized AC & air handling units dominate the market. There is a paradigm shift, and demand for conventional methods is emerging. Evaporative Air Coolers are growing in popularity because of their economic and environmentally friendly qualities. Most importantly, every company is working towards achieving Zero Net Energy.

JCB Air Tech’s evaporative air coolers use the ‘principle of evaporation to provide airflow that is cooler than the surrounding air. Water is pumped up and dripped onto the cooling pads. As hot air is pulled through, the water in the cooling pad evaporates. Evaporation absorbs heat, dropping the cooler air temperature and resulting in cooler airflow than the ambient air.

Opportunities for Air washers in public spaces

Clean and fresh air is an essential and basic requirement of any living being. We are still facing a tough time post-Covid. In such an environment, focusing on clean air is a priority. In dry conditions like India, air washers are used. They remove many types of allergens— including dust, dust mites, pet hair, mould spores, pollen, and other airborne particles.

According to the new statutory requirement, Indoor Air Quality is a prime requirement for any space. Wherever there is a large gathering of people by statutory requirements, many air changes per hour are required. Air conditioners keep re-circulating the air, affecting an individual’s health. Fans and Air washers are the low-cost options to install in the facility to ensure required air changes.

Air washers and evaporative air coolers have existed for a long time. JCB Air Tech has introduced Air washers with pre-filters, which capture dust and other allergens up to 20 microns.

The retrofit market for evolving technologies

Retro fitment is happening on a large scale within Indian industries. Ensuring good air quality within the premises is vital for any organization. Many MNC companies are entering the Indian market bringing in global standards and complying with the statutory requirement. India is introducing OHSAS 18001, Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series – an international standard for occupational health and safety management systems.

Most companies are upgrading their facilities to adhere to the safety norms of IAQ. With minimalistic changes to be done to the existing system, it is possible to use the existing equipment as a retrofit. Though filters and UV light can solve the purpose to an extent, many companies have developed the latest technology, like air purifiers that purify the surrounding air.

Natural ventilation and air washers

One of the most effective ways to improve indoor air quality is by ensuring a sufficient number of air changes within the building. This ensures contaminated air is driven out of the building and fresh air is added. This is done through natural ventilation, by opening doors and windows. The other is associated with ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Evaporative air coolers using pre-filters for dust particles and UV light remove the allergen.

Air washers use centrifugal fans and big blowers. They consume a large amount of power and space, but the energy required for these equipment increases the operative costs. JCB Air Tech air washers have been designed & developed with the latest technology. In the cooling and ventilation industry, it is one of the first companies to introduce permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM). These higher efficiency motors consume less power and also have soft noise during operation.

Retrofitting demands in the industry

The demand for retrofitting is growing over the period. Product modification is significant to maintain existing demand, attract new users, and compete effectively with competitors. Implementing value addition modifications to existing products is crucial to maintain a cutting edge over your competitors. Every company is investing in R&D to stay ahead in the business.

The newest trends in cooling & ventilation are the use of lower wattage – higher efficiency motors, higher grade quality Cellulose pads, environmentally friendly refrigerants, digital displays, Internet-based operations etc. With JCB AIR Tech solutions, large industries have been retrofitted with air washers. Instead of having ducting inside the plant for air distribution, air distribution is carried out using HVLS fans. Exhaust fans on the opposite end of the building ensure that natural air is also maintained inside the building.
