Danfoss A2L sensor redefines thermal conductivity

The DST G series of thermal conductivity sensors is designed for efficient leak detection in A2L refrigerants, offering high safety levels. These sensors support five different refrigerants and are suitable for both HVAC and commercial refrigeration applications.

As HFC phasedown proceeds and A2L refrigerants become more extensively utilised, the G series of sensors enables building owners and HVAC/R manufacturers to confidently implement these new refrigerants.

Built with thermal conductivity technology, the DST G series excels at speedy and precise leak detection, ensuring the highest degree of safety while using A2L refrigerants. Danfoss Sensing Solutions’ product manager, Laís Miranda de Oliveira, explains that using thermal conductivity technology in the DST G series allows the sensor to accurately re-calibrate itself under varying operating conditions, making it ideal for harsh environments.

To detect drifts larger than the ASC can rectify, the sensors have a built-in limit supervision self-test diagnostic that continuously analyses the data. Since the sensors self-calibrate, the error margin is lower.

This combination of robustness and accurate calibration make for an effective technology for detecting A2L gas leaks. And by implementing the inverted sensor design, we’ve been able to further increase the DST G series sensors’ accuracy,” said Miranda de Oliveira.

Designed for a variety of HVAC and commercial refrigerant applications. The sensors support five distinct A2L refrigerants and are intended for both HVAC (DST G54B for R454B and DST GR32 for R32 refrigerants) and commercial refrigeration (DST G54A for R454A, DST G54C for R454C, and DST G55A for R455A refrigerant).
