The rise of digitalisation and the creation of various IT tools such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and IoT have been pivotal in accelerating the development of the Data Centre sector.

The rapid growth of infrastructure and the economy in India is paving the way for a significant transformation in the Data Centre industry in the coming years. The rise of digitalisation and technological progress has led to the creation of various IT tools such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and IoT. These advancements have played a crucial role in accelerating the development of the Data Centre sector after the Covid pandemic. Data Centres are primarily concentrated in Tier-1 cities like Chennai and Mumbai. However, as the industry continues to expand, there is a vision of establishing Data Centres nationwide.

This expansion aligns with the government’s efforts to promote e-governance, driving a substantial demand for Data Centres in India. This demand arises from the necessity of efficiently storing and managing data across diverse businesses. By leveraging its dependable and efficient solutions, Mitsubishi Electric is dedicated to supporting the intricate infrastructure of Data Centres in India to meet these evolving needs.

Modern Data Centres are now equipped with various technical and IT components, encompassing servers, routers, switches, etc., all reinforced by a robust infrastructure. To elevate India’s status to a global Data Centre hub, Mitsubishi Electric is furnishing solutions that bolster and safeguard the expansion of India’s data Centre infrastructure.

In light of the escalating demand and swift advancement of this sector within India, Mitsubishi Electric has introduced a range of electrical, mechanical, and communication solutions. These solutions are primarily designed to underpin the expansion and seamless functioning of the data centre’s infrastructure and operations nationwide.

Mitsubishi Electric India presents a suite of robust and efficient solutions, detailed below, to support the growth of Data Centres in India:

IT cooling and comfort cooling systems

Maintaining optimal conditions for servers and IT equipment within data Centres and server rooms is paramount. Mitsubishi Electric’s HVAC systems are known for their exceptional reliability and ability to minimise operational expenses through energy-efficient mechanisms. This efficiency contributes to achieving a low Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE), a crucial factor for data Centres. Given the demanding cooling requirements and significant load fluctuations inherent in Data Centres due to humidity and high heat generation, the necessity for effective IT cooling systems cannot be overstated. Mitsubishi Electric provides various solutions such as Chillers, Precision Air Conditioning (PAC), and Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF). These solutions incorporate Advanced Inverter Technology and a compact design to ensure the seamless functioning of any Data Centre.

Power distribution system

Reliable and long-lasting power distribution systems are essential to ensure the stable and secure operation of Data Centres. Mitsubishi Electric offers solutions like Medium Voltage Switchgears (MVS), Low Voltage Switchgears (LVS), and Energy Saving Supporting Devices to facilitate efficient power distribution based on operational requirements. The Low Voltage Switchgears (LVS) safeguard against overload currents, short circuit currents, and insulation failures.

Mitsubishi Electric’s Metta IEC 61439 stands out as a cutting-edge low-voltage power switchgear and control gear for motors and low-voltage power control Centres. Known for its flexibility, user-friendliness, safety, and reliability, this switchgear and control gear assembly adheres to the latest IEC61439-1&2 standard.

Furthermore, Mitsubishi Electric presents forward-looking and environmentally-friendly solutions in the form of Low Voltage Circuit Breakers and Medium Voltage Circuit Breakers. These devices cater to the demands of both power distribution and machinery markets.

Elevators

Efficient vertical transportation is a crucial element for the stability of any solid civil infrastructure. Mitsubishi Elevator India, a branch of Mitsubishi Electric, specialises in creating design, customising, and upkeeping elevators equipped with an array of top-tier technologies and features. These innovations aim to conserve energy, enhance efficiency, and offer convenience, and all adapted to the specific needs of any Data Centre.

Monitoring and control

Integrated Building Management System (iBMS) is a single comprehensive Building Management System that allows for the integration of HVAC, fire alarm, public address, access control, security, lighting, and other data centre systems. Mitsubishi Electric has an IBMS designed using an advanced iQ-R platform to offer scalable and flexible configuration. The iBMS offers in-house design, engineering, development, and commissioning capabilities. It also includes an exclusive project management team and an FA call centre for remote support, ensuring quick response for all service calls. Other features of the IBMS include:

· Seamless Connectivity to Modbus RTU, TCP/IP, BACnet, SNMP Devices

· Seamless DB /ERP Connectivity

· Secure Architecture

· User Access and Privilege Management

· Attractive 2D/3D Graphics with Advanced Animation Techniques

· Customised Reporting, SMS, and Email Alerts

· In-Depth Energy Analytics

SCADA systems: Mitsubishi Electric has developed an innovative SCADA system named GENESIS64, specifically designed for Data Visualisation and Data Collection for iBMS. This software introduces a novel approach with 3D graphics that effectively condenses information, enhancing the capacity to display a wealth of information on a single screen. This consolidation contributes to improved supervisory capabilities. GENESIS64 supports real-time and historical alarms, enabling users to oversee and receive notifications about process statuses and easily discern them quickly. This is achieved by presenting multiple trend graphs and heat-mapping data sets.

PLC (Programmable Logic Controller): Furthermore, the software incorporates technologies aimed at enhancing user experience, promoting energy and cost savings, and facilitating preventive maintenance. In addition, Mitsubishi Electric offers a robust range of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) to enhance monitoring and control systems within data Centres. These PLCs are tailored for managing building air conditioners and industrial machinery, contributing to improved efficiency and functionality.

Inverters

In Data Centres and similar facilities, the primary source of power consumption within air conditioning systems is attributed to the motors that drive the propelling compressors and blowers. Mitsubishi Electric’s inverter technology promotes the development of miniaturised, high-efficiency, and high-output technologies for motors. This effort fosters the visualisation and advocacy of energy and resource conservation. It also aids in ensuring the stable operation of facilities while minimising downtime.

Uninterrupted power supply (UPS) systems play a vital role in the power infrastructure of Data Centres. Recognising the significance of dependable power, given the business’s critical nature and the financial risks linked with operational interruptions, Mitsubishi Electric provides UPS systems designed to integrate into Data Centres seamlessly. These systems ensure consistent power quality, even in cases where the primary supply is compromised, effectively serving as a strong backup power solution.
