CAREL enhances humidity control at The Courtauld Gallery of London

CAREL has finished installing a humidification system at The Courtauld Gallery in Somerset House, London. These systems are designed to ensure precise humidity control, maintaining a stable relative humidity of 50 percent, which is essential for preserving the gallery’s exhibits.

The Carel collaboration with the Courtauld Gallery, which installed a humidification system, aims to maintain optimal environmental conditions to preserve the art collection housed by The Samuel Courtauld Trust, part of The Courtauld Institute of Art.

The project involved installing seven heater Steam humidifiers and four Water Treatment Systems. These systems ensure precise humidity control, maintaining a stable 50 percent relative humidity essential for preserving the gallery’s exhibits. Preventive maintenance, part of the CAREL solution, also ensures the continuous operation of the humidifiers and provides a high level of support to the museum.

Indoor air quality control is a fundamental, albeit often overlooked, aspect of museum management. The installation of CAREL’s isothermal humidification systems and reverse osmosis water treatment, configured to match the air handling units, has made humidity management more efficient. This enables the facility to achieve the highest standards in terms of indoor air quality and service continuity, regardless of the diverse environmental needs within the gallery.
