Dharampal Satyapal Group executes large retrofit project with NOVENCO ZerAx Fans.

Retrofit to the latest AHU technology 

The DS Group has recently performed a large retrofit project of the air handling units (AHUs) at the headquarters in Noida. The retrofit replaced 40 outdated centrifugal fans with highly efficient, state-of-the-art NOVENCO® ZerAx® fans. The retrofit project is part of the company’s Sustainable Development journey, which aligns its business, social and environmental objectives to make a significant contribution to the society at large. The project’s initial phase included Proof of Concept (POC)  in the form of replacing a single existing centrifugal fan with a ZerAx fan.

The purpose of this pilot project was to test the ZerAx and to witness firsthand energy savings when replacing an old centrifugal fan with a modern and advanced ZerAx axial fan. Before the retrofit, the performance of one of the existing AHUs with the centrifugal fan installed was measured by our Authorised Channel Partner AIR TECHNO INDIA PVT. LTD., to establish the baseline.

The exact measurements were then made post-retrofit. The results showed that the ZerAx fan had reduced the energy consumption by 55% for the same air flow rate. Once again, the ZerAx fans proved to be on the technological forefront with the highest efficiency and an invaluable contribution to certification programmes of sustainable buildings.

We aim to become a Zero Carbon facility by the end of 2023. In our quest for the same, we come across ZerAx axial fans’ benefits over the conventional centrifugal blowers such as ROI period, improved system efficiency, etc. This product also contributes to reducing carbon emissions and is certified by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) as a green product. 

We conducted a sample retrofit pilot project at our premises to understand the projected energy savings, and the results were encouraging. We are delighted to share that we managed to reduce substantial energy consumption to the tune of > 55% in our AHU systems after 1st phase of implementation. We are satisfied with the outcome and would like to implement the 2nd phase in our other offices.”

The easy and customised design of the fans was a significant positive point for proceeding with retrofitting with plugand-play features. These fans are compatible with our existing drives and improve overall system efficiency. We used the existing cabling and other accessories in the system without any modification. The entire system is weightless compared to the conventional fans; hence no additional structural requirements are needed saving additional costs. Post-installation, the activities were smooth as the team had the necessary equipment and tools.
