Air Quality is gaining more and more importance in our lives especially in cities where clean and pure air is scarce due to countless factors, from vehicular pollution to infrastructure development. Apart from cooling and heating, we feel that helping to improve the air-quality will also be one of the key factors of air conditioner technology evolution in the days to come.

Even today, in many countries, dust and dirt are the biggest enemies of Air Conditioner’s performance. Air Conditioning area generally contains different types of dirt. Hydrophilic dirt, which includes fibre dust and sand dust, and hydrophobic dirt, which includes oil and cigarette smoke.

When the inside components of an Indoor Air Conditioner are left dirty, the unit can face serious consequences. There’s a chance that the Air Flow volume will be reduced, the Air Conditioner may get moldy, the outlet air will smell bad, and the Air Conditioner’s energy efficiency will deteriorate. These dust and dirt particles can lower down the efficiency of the machine and may lead to concurrent repair or replacement if the damage is severe enough.

Mitsubishi Electric India offers a solution to this problem with its Dual Barrier Coating technology. The technology protects air conditioners from the ill effects of dirt and dust and improves the efficiency and overall air quality of the system.

Dual barrier coating for better protection and performance

The dual barrier coating technology is an advanced technology that protects Air Conditioners from the harmful effects of dirt and dust. This technology helps in reducing the attachment of dust and oil mist that coats the inside of the Air Conditioners. The coating material significantly reduces the attachment of dust which is mixed in the air. This gives the units the ability to work at full capacity. Because there is less dirt, the bad smells and odors are reduced in turn. The need of frequent servicing of the Air Conditioner unit decreases as dirt levels decrease.

Air Conditioners with dual barrier coating (DBC) technology are effective in protecting the body of the unit from corrosion and erosion while also provides cool, clean, and fresh air inside the room.

How dual barrier coating technology works?

“Dual Barrier Coating” is a two-layer coating with blended fluorine particles that prevent hydrophilic dirt from penetrating into the Air Conditioner and hydrophilic particles that keep hydrophobic dirt away from the Air Conditioning unit. The Air Conditioner is kept clean all year because of the dual coating present on the inner surface.

How does this feature benefit your home?

  • Indoor Air Quality Improvements

Your indoor units filter out dirt and dust particles, however particle build-up over time might reduce the filtering capacity of your system. During testing, it is concluded that, Dual Barrier Coating enabled units repel dust and does not allow the dust to stick on the AC units, while the dust particles are likely to stick on the non-DBC Air Conditioners which in turn lowers down the efficiency of the units. This function assures that the repelled dust is thrown out with the help of water drain from the Machine, which in turn, assures a greater level of indoor air quality and assures that your system is running as effectively as possible.

  • Maintenance Costs Are Lower

The use of the Dual Barrier Coating decreases the need for frequent cleaning and maintenance. The homeowner can do routine maintenance on mini-split systems on their own as the amount of dirt accumulated is already reduced manifolds due to the Dual Barrier Coating feature. This also reduces the need for maintenance by preventing wear and tear of the unit.

Switching to a mini-split system is a terrific first step in improving the overall efficiency and wellness of your house. With the increasing pollution and high amount of dust present in the environment, it is always advisable to switch to the long lasting and efficient Dual Barrier Coated cooling systems.

Air Conditioners offered by Mitsubishi Electric have a sophisticated, streamlined design and a comprehensive of features to provide stylish, energy-efficient air conditioning for various small businesses. Double vanes on the indoor unit of such Air Conditioners operate independently to distribute airflow evenly throughout the room and offers a whisper-quiet operation as low as 19 dB. (A). A Plasma Quad Plus filter uses powerful plasma technology to filter out even microscopic particles, while the heat exchanger, fan, and air duct have dual-barrier coatings to prevent dust and grease accumulation. Dual Barrier Coating is available in the company’s most of Room Air Conditioning models and will continue to be a part of the upcoming models as well. Many developed features, such as long airflow and dual barrier coating, ensure better performance and longer life while preventing hydrophobic dirt from penetrating the AC. Both series variants include a standard micro particle catching filter and an optional high-density filter that captures even the tiniest dust particles and eliminates PM2.5.
