Daikin Industries and Hitachi are working through collaborative creation to begin a trial operation in April 2025 at the Sakai Plant Factory, where Daikin manufactures commercial air conditioning equipment. They are using generative AI and OT expertise to achieve response times under 10 seconds and accuracy above 90 per cent to advance global quality assurance.
Daikin Industries, Ltd. and Hitachi, Ltd., are collaborating to start a trial operation in April 2025 at the Sakai Plant-Rinkai Factory. Their goal is to commercialise an AI agent (AI Agent for Equipment Failure Diagnostics) that facilitates factory equipment failure diagnostics.
Daikin and Hitachi have developed an AI tool that helps technicians quickly find and fix equipment issues. The AI uses data from factory blueprints, maintenance records, and expert knowledge to diagnose problems faster than human technicians. In tests, it identified failures and suggested fixes in under 10 seconds with over 90% accuracy.
Daikin and Hitachi aim to finish testing the AI tool by September 2025, after which they plan to use it in their factories worldwide. This will help share important maintenance knowledge, improve quality, and make workers more productive.
Hitachi will also use this AI tool in other industries through its Lumada solutions. They plan to help workers by offering services to quickly create AI tools that can improve efficiency by using operational knowledge from factories.
