Virendra N. Kamdar, CEO, says Kahan Controls is fueling growth in the dynamic HVAC-R industry by providing customised, IoT-enabled control solutions. With a strong emphasis on energy efficiency, innovative technologies, and sustainability, the company addresses diverse applications while advancing smart system integration and eco-friendly practices.
What market growth do you see for HVACR application products next year?
With India experiencing rapid growth, the country’s infrastructure is expanding rapidly. As a result, I believe the coming decade holds great promise for the Indian HVAC-R industry. I firmly believe we can grow much faster than in the past decade, and I am sure we have a conducive environment where our HVAC-R industry grows annually by at least 15-20 percent.
What sets Kahan Controls apart from other control system providers in the HVACR market?
Kahan Controls is a technology-driven control company. It is collaborating with leading multinational firms for electronic hardware. Unlike other global corporations, Kahan Controls possesses a deep understanding of the Indian HVAC-R industry and develops all relevant software entirely in-house within India, with offices located in Mumbai, Chennai, and New Delhi. We have seen other MNCs not putting effort into understanding Indian OEM customers’ needs and developing firmware accordingly but trying to impose solutions developed by their Head Office somewhere in Europe/US.
Our key differentiator from other large MNC brands in India lies in our approach to developing comprehensive software solutions while designing hardware tailored specifically to our OEM customers’ needs and the Indian HVAC/R market.
Please share features or technologies that make your products more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly.
For 20 years, we have been committed to bringing the best Controls and Technological Solutions to the Indian HVAC-R Industry. So, in ACREX, we are launching our Complete Range of Controls, IoT-compatible and at much more affordable rates, specially designed for the Indian HVAC-R Industry. This IoT solution will make our existing Controls more energy efficient. All our products have world-class quality standards, like CE, UL, and RoHS compliance.
What innovations have taken place in control and technology solutions for various applications?
We see a revolutionary change post-COVID, where technology has become the most essential part of HVAC-R equipment. Earlier, manufacturers used basic temperature controllers. Now, they are using PLCs and HMIs.
BMS connectivity was once considered a standard feature, but the industry is shifting toward a future where IoT integration will be mandatory for all equipment. What was a simple AHU earlier has evolved into a Smart AHU, equipped with advanced controls and BMS connectivity directly from the factory. Energy Monitoring Systems (EMS) have become integral to nearly every project. The rapid expansion of wireless sensors and transmitters, along with communication protocols like LORA, MQTT, JSON, and long-distance wireless connectivity, is transforming the industry landscape.
How does your company integrate sustainability into its control system designs and technological solutions?
Our company integrates sustainability into its control system designs and technological solutions by ensuring that all our products are RoHS compliant, making them environmentally friendly. Additionally, we actively recycle various electronic components used in the industry as part of our commitment to supporting the Green Drive Campaign.
What industries does Kahan Controls cater to with its control systems for HVACR applications?
We have two verticals where 1 Vertical provides complete Control Solutions to all kinds of OEMs like Chiller, AHU, Dehumidifier, Cold Rooms etc., where we supply PLC, HMI, EEV & Drivers, Sensors & Transmitters, VFD etc. and other Vertical provide Complete Technological Solution to HVAC-R Contractors / Consultants for BMS, IoT, VFD, Refrigerant Leak Detection Solution, Humidifier etc. This way, we cater to all kinds of HVAC-R Controls & Technology-related requirements for our industry.
How are IoT and smart sensors improving the performance of HVACR systems?
Similarly, technology in our day-to-day life is getting advanced. Technology in the HVACR industry is also moving at an equally fast pace. Smart wireless sensors, IoT-compatible PLCs or DDCs, and IIoT are also picking up quite rapidly in the HVACR industry. This is because IoT makes any machine or plant so Smart and efficient that efficiency and energy saving improve drastically; and hence, smart controls & IoT are certainly the future of the HVACR Industry.
