Sharp, Eltech Appliances in pact

Sharp Corporation of Japan has announced the signing of a Distribution Agreement with Chennai-based Eltech Appliances Pvt Ltd (EAPL) for the Indian market. Under the agreement, Sharp will initially launch air-conditioners in India. These air-conditioners incorporate Sharp’s proprietary Plasmacluster technology that eliminates germs and allergens present in polluted air and ensure clean air and healthy living.

M Ejazuddin, Managing Director, EAPL, said, “Current AC market in India is 6 million units, which is set to double in five years’ time. With BEE raising energy efficiency standards again in 2020, the market may move more towards inverters. Sharp being one of the first and top brands in inverter technology, is expected to play an important role in the market.

The Distribution Agreement is a reflection of the shared values of EAPL and Sharp Corporation, Japan.”
