Condair helps Konvekta achieve 92% energy recovery

The Condair ME evaporative humidifier is utilised by energy recovery specialists Konvekta as one of its standard adiabatic cooling solutions. Konvekta exhaust air cooling system pre-cools incoming fresh air to minimise the need for mechanical cooling in buildings.

Konvekta’s exhaust air cooling system pre-cools incoming fresh air to reduce the building’s need for mechanical cooling. The system uses the Condair ME humidifier to cool the air extracted from the rooms using low-energy evaporative cooling.

Methodology

Before the cooled extract air is vented outside, it passes through a heat recovery system, providing up to 10K of cooling to the incoming fresh air supply. This process can cool outdoor air from 32°C to a supply air temperature of 22-23°C without mechanical cooling.

A recent installation at a clinic in Tyrol, Austria, resulted in a confirmed annual energy recovery of 92% across the Konvekta systems for the building. A single Condair ME humidifier contributed more than 60,000kWh/a of cooling from just 3,800kwh/a of consumed electricity. This low-energy cooling significantly improved the building’s overall energy efficiency and helped it achieve recognition as the most sustainable in Austria.
