Shri Bhagwanth Khuba, India’s Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy, inaugurated SAFDE23 in New Delhi, emphasizing India’s commitment to renewable energy and public-private collaboration in achieving energy access and climate goals.
This year, SAFDE’s theme is centered around public-private collaboration. Alongside partners such as MNRE, CLASP, IKEA Foundation and International Solar Alliance (ISA), GOGLA is hosting SAFDE23 to drive dialogue on unlocking the potential for Distributed Renewable Energy (DRE) to improve livelihoods and enhance energy access.
“The potential for DRE is very high but there is a need to create an environment in which it thrives and enables economic development” said Ajay Mathur, Director General – ISA. Mathur also stressed on the need to derisk financing for DRE and emphasized the adoption of innovative financing solutions such as carbon financing.
“At CLASP, we believe that collaboration is the key to unlocking transformative solutions for energy challenges faced by underserved communities. India is at the epicenter of a growing energy market and we are glad to join GOGLA in driving dialogue for integrated energy solutions. There is a big opportunity to mainstream distributed renewable energy through policy, market, and technology integration”, said Bishal Thapa, Senior Director – CLASP.
